Southwest United Industries Purchases Advanced Processing Inc.(API) Of Concord, ON

Southwest United Industries is proud to announce that it has purchased all the outstanding shares of Advanced Processing Inc. (API) of Concord, ON. The coordination, amalgamation and the complete integration with Ceel Limited of Brampton, ON will establish the first complete one-stop-shop processing company in Ontario.

Mr. Terrence Martin established Advanced Processing Inc. in 1979 to service the blossoming de Havilland aircraft manufacturing sector. In the year 2000, the company moved to its present location in Concord. At that time API employed 25 people in a facility of 13,000 square feet. It has since expanded to 18,000 square feet and employs 45 people in a 3 shift system.

Based in Ontario, API serves an extensive customer base throughout Canada.   API is approved by most major aerospace prime contractors including Boeing, Bell Helicopter, Bombardier, Lockheed Martin, Goodrich, and Messier-Dowty.  API is an ISO 2001-2000/SAE AS 9001B registered company holding Nadcap accreditations for Chemical Processing, Non Destructive Testing and Shot Peening. Current chemical processes include Anodizing, Cadmium Plating, Chemical Coversion Coating, Passivation of Stainless Steels and application of Prime and Top Coats.

Southwest is very pleased that Terry Martin will continue running the day-to-day operations of API. He will spearhead the addition of several new process lines and assist in the integration of API and Ceel to ultimately develop one seamless processing company. 

Southwest United Industries was established in 1953 in Tulsa, OK. It currently operates in Tulsa and Oklahoma City providing non-destructive testing, shot peening, thermal spray coating, plating, grinding, anodizing and painting services to the aerospace industry. It is Nadcap accredited and is certified and approved by all the major aerospace prime contractors.

Plasma Coating Corporation is a wholly owned subsidiary of Southwest United Industries and is located in Gardena, CA. PCC provides thermal spray coating (HVOF, plasma, wire-arc, combustion powder and wire), precision grinding, painting, Teflon and dry film lube services to the aerospace industry. It is approved by many aerospace manufacturing companies and is Nadcap accredited.

Ceel Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of Southwest United Industries and is located in Brampton, ON. It provides chrome & sulfamate nickel plating, HVOF thermal spray and precision grinding to the aerospace, nuclear and defense industries. Ceel is Nadcap accredited and has earned many aerospace process approvals.

 

Remembering Dean Stewart
November 05, 2007

Dean Wallace Stewart, 41 years, passed away Monday, November 5, 2007 after a brief illness. Born in Tulsa, OK, June 15, 1966 to David E. and Mary (Davis) Stewart. Dean grew up in Skiatook, OK where he excelled in academics as well as football, baseball, and basketball. He graduated from Skiatook High School in 1984. Following one year on a football scholarship at N.E.O. A & M, Dean transferred to the University of Tulsa where he earned his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering. Coach Lovie Smith convinced him to play football his first semester and then Dean hung up his pads forever. Sigma Chi fraternity became an important part of his life while at TU. Upon graduation, he joined Phillips Petroleum Co. and served within various divisions over fifteen years working in Tulsa, Houston, and Bartlesville. During his time in Texas, Dean escaped serious injury at the Houston Chemical Complex when it exploded on October 23, 1989. He was happy to join the Southwest United Industries family several years ago where he changed his professional focus from high-temperature specialty plastics to specialty plating and coating of metals for aviation. Always a coach, Dean took great pleasure in helping his coaching friends teach fundamental skills in football and basketball, influencing countless kids lives. His great loves were his family, friends, sports, and TU. He is survived by: wife of 19 years and high school sweetheart, Jamie (Patterson) Stewart as well as their children: Tyler Warren, Mary Grace, and Sophia Elizabeth - all of the home. He also leaves his parents plus 1 sibling, Doug Stewart and wife, Lori of Tulsa; 5 nephews, 1 niece; many in-laws; scores of Sigma Chi brothers; and hundreds of friends and co- workers who will miss his sparkling smile and warm presence. Heart-felt thanks to all the family and friends from Christ the King, Marquette School, Edison Preparatory School, Cascia Hall, TU, OU-Tulsa, Skiatook, Dr. Steve Gawey and the Gold Team at St. John's Hospital, and Dr. Tom Broughan from OU Physicians whom was an immense help over the past month with his compassion and leadership. Friends can honor Dean's memory with contributions to: The Dean W. Stewart Memorial Education Trust Fund for his children established at The Exchange Bank of Skiatook, Attn: Denton Collier, P.O. Box 448, Skiatook, OK 74070. A Prayer Vigil will be held 7 p.m., Wednesday, November 7 with a Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m., Thursday, November 8, both services at Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment, Calvary Cemetery. The Fitzgerald Ivy Chapel, 585-1151

Southwest United Industries closes purchase of CEEL Limited of Brampton, ON. Installation of HVOF thermal spray coating and grinding to support aircraft landing gear industry top priority

Southwest United Industries of Tulsa, OK has closed the previously announced purchase of all of the outstanding shares of CEEL Limited of Brampton, Ontario.

Mr. Larry Raycraft established Canadian Electroplating Enterprises Limited in 1978 to service the heavy equipment hydraulic industry. In 1981 the company moved to its present location at 85 Stafford Drive in Brampton, Ontario. Mr. Neil Raycraft purchased the company from his father in 1994 changing the name to CEEL Limited. Currently CEEL provides hard chrome and sulfamate nickel plating services from its 18,000 square foot facility to aerospace, military and general industrial customers. CEEL is Nadcap accredited and approved by Boeing, Goodrich and Messier-Dowty. Neil Raycraft will remain as Vice President / General Manager of the facility which will retain its current name.

Southwest is excited to enter the Canadian market through the purchase of CEEL and to be associated with Mr. Raycraft and CEEL’s outstanding group of customers and employees that have contributed to CEEL’s success.

Southwest’s top priority is to support the Canadian aerospace community with the installation of HVOF thermal spray coating and grinding into the CEEL facility with Ti-Cad plating and additional processes to follow.

 

Southwest United Industries launches upgraded processing facility within Tulsa, Oklahoma complex

The new production area contains fourteen new tanks, two large ovens, two HVOF work cells, two walk-in abrasive blasting rooms and a machining center for assembly of aircraft accessories.  The additional processing includes additional deep tank capacity for titanium cadmium plating designed specifically for large landing gear pistons.  The new production area also contains a newly designed magnetic particle inspection area also to facilitate the significant demand for large landing gear pistons.  The increased capacity reinforces Southwest United Industries commitment to be the leader in large part processing for the aerospace landing gear market.

 

Southwest Earns More NADCAP Accreditations

Southwest United Industries recently obtained certification by Nadcap for Shot Peen. The scope of accreditation covers Automated, Computer Controlled, Flapper and Manual Shot Peen precesses. Southwest United also obtained certification for Aerospace Quality Systems.

These certifications add to our existing certifications for Thermal Spray Coatings, NDT and Chemical Processing which encompasses plating, anodizing and painting processes. Our NDT certification covers fluorescent penetrant inspection and magnetic particle inspection.

 

Southwest Announces Continued Expansion Of CNC Grinding Facilities

Southwest United Industries recently added 2 new Kellenberger CNC Kel-Vista Universal grinders with 14” x 40” capacity and 2 new NC Okamoto Universal grinders with 12” x 36” capacity. Both sets of machines can grind steel, chrome plating or tungsten carbide thermal spray coating.

A factory reconditioned conventional Toyoda Universal grinder with capacity of 19” x 106” was put into production in the fall of 2004.

This added capacity along with existing grinding capability further positions Southwest United to offer industry leading grinding support to our plating and thermal spray product lines.

Southwest Announces Expansion Of Anodize Facilities In Oklahoma City

Southwest United Industries has recently opened an additional state-of-the-art facility in Oklahoma City , Oklahoma offering anodize, alodine and painting services. Included with this facility is an aluminum process line that consists of 14 tanks including two anodize tanks, two seal tanks, deoxidizer, alkaline etch, alkaline cleaner, dryer and space for up to 4 additional tanks. The facility has a large capacity for processing parts up to 22 feet long, high volume capabilities, full paint shop and is fully automated. In addition, the facility offers the available space to expand to meet additional customer requirements and the efficient layout ensures quick and reliable service.

Southwest Earns Additional NADCAP Accreditations

Southwest United Industries recently obtained certification by Nadcap for Thermal Spray Processes. The scope of accreditation covers oxy fuel thermal spray, wire spray, plasma spray and HVOF thermal spray. It also covers stripping for thermal spray coatings, coating evaluation labor practices for mechanical testing, metallography and thickness and hardness testing.

Southwest's Thermal Spray certification is in addition to our existing certifications for Quality Systems, NDT and Chemical Processing which encompasses plating, anodizing and painting processes. Our NDT certification covers fluorescent penetrant inspection and magnetic particle inspection.
